Ownership Opportunities
Since we purchased Annandale Distillery in April 2007, many people have asked us if we intend to float Annandale Distillery Company Limited on the stock market or otherwise sell shares in the business. The simple answer is that we'd rather not, unless 'needs must', simply because the need to satisfy shareholders in the short-term might distract us from our long-term objectives and our other ideals.
On further reflection (January 2012), we've decided that the best way for those interested in 'investing' in Annandale Distillery would be through buying a whole cask (or part-share) of new-make spirit. This would be laid down to mature in our iconic, red sandstone bonded warehouses, right at the heart of the Annandale Distillery site. Details have yet to be finalised but we plan to offer the choice of smoky/peaty spirit (the original style of Annandale according to Alfred Barnard) or non-smoky/peaty spirit, more in the modern Lowland style. A variety of different casks will be on offer.
We will be inviting 'expressions of interest' in buying casks (whole or part-share) later in 2012 but we will not be taking firm orders until Malcolm Rennie and Dr Jim Swan have 'worked their magic' and we're all totally satisfied with the quality of our spirit. (Actually it's not 'magic' that will determine the quality of our spirit and eventually, of our whisky, but the culmination of two lifetimes of technical expertise and practical experience.)
Please watch this space for further details.
