Getting Started

You might think it a bit weird but the first thing we did was develop a marketing and sales plan, well before we had put a formal offer on the Distillery. This helped us to understand what sort of business Annandale Distillery could be and also how much whisky we would need to produce for the Distillery to be viable in the long term. It also gave us some insight into what we might be committing ourselves to in terms of time and investment.

Part of the marketing plan involved enlisting the aid of Springetts Brand Design Consultants to develop a unique and powerful brand essense and brand identity. The logo and visual identity help communicate the spirit of Annandale (see bottom of screen).

The hand drawn initial A echoes the interlinking threads of past, present and future and the coming together of different elements (like tartan) as well as the billowing sails of the ships which carried emigrating Scots around the world. The linked "N"s in the logotype also help convey the sense of belonging  that we want the brand to generate.
